Kahandaan ng Boracay, masusukat sa dry run

Malalaman ng Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF) kung naging epektibo ang rehabilitasyon ng gobyerno sa isla sa ikatlong araw ng dry run activities.

“The point of the dry run is to ensure that everything will run smoothly during the soft opening on October 26,” sinabi ni Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu.

Sinabi ni Cimatu, pinuno rin ng BIATF, na naging maayos ang dry run, ngunit nais malaman ng task force sa ikatlong araw (Oktubre 17) kung umubra ang mga ginawang rehabilitasyon ng ng gobyero.

“We will only see the effects and results of all these interventions on the third day after tourist arrivals,” aniya.

Ipinunto ni Cimatu na ang mga polisiya at interventions ng gobyerno para protektahan ang Boracay mula sa unsustainable tourism activities ay masusubukan sa dry run, na nagsimula nitong Lunes at magtatagal hanggang sa Oktubre 25.

“As you may have observed, there has been not only a visible improvement in water quality. Tests done by the EMB (Environmental Management Bureau) revealed that the coliform level is now down to 18.1 MPN/100 mL from thousands or even millions in some areas of the island’s waters prior to closing,” ani Cimatu.

Ang standard coliform level ay 100 most probable number per 100 milliliters ng sample.

Sinabi ni Cimatu na patuloy na susuriin ng EMB ang kalidad ng tubig na lumalabas mula sa sewage treatment plants (STPs) sa isla.

Iginiit ni Cimatu na tanging ang mga establisimyento na nakasunod sa requirements ng DENR, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), at ng Department of Tourism (DoT) ang pahihintulutang muling magbukas at magoperate.

Mag-iisyu lamang ang DENR ng environmental compliance certificate (ECC) sa mga negosyong may sariling STPs o konektado sa provider, at hindi nakatayo sa kakahuyan o sa wetlands.

Sinabi rin ni Cimatu na istrikto nilang susundin ang tourist arrival na 6,405 katao bawat araw.

Kabuuang 1,000 silid lamang mula sa accredited hotels ang magiging bukas para sa booking anumang oras sa isang araw.
