Duterte, wala pang opisyal na Senate ticket

Itinalaga ni Pangulong Duterte si Commissioner Prospero De Vera III bilang chairman ng Commission in Higher Education (CHED).

Ayon sa pahayag mula CHED, magsisilbi si De Vera sa CHED hanggang Hulyo 21, 2022.

Sinabi ni De Vera na ikinalulugod niya ang tiwalang ibinigay sa kanya ng Pangulo, at titiyakin na maipapatupad ang mga reporma sa edukasyon na isinusulong ng administrasyon.

“I am humbled and challenged by the trust and confidence given to me by President Duterte. I promise to diligently and conscientiously do whatever is necessary to ensure the successful implementation of RA 10931 and all reforms necessary in higher education,” wika niya.

Noong 2016, itinalaga bilang CHED commissioner si De Vera at umupo siya bilang officer-in-charge noong Enero matapos na magbitiw ang dating chairperson na si Patricia Licuanan.

Siya rin ang tumatayong tagapagsalita ng komisyon.

Bago siya maging bahagi ng Duterte administration, si De Vera ang vice president for Public Affairs ng University of the Philippines simula 2011 hanggang 2016.

Nakamit niya ang BA History and Doctor of Public Administration degrees sa UP, kung saan siya naging propesor ng Public Administration noong 1993.

Nagpakadalubhasa si De Vera sa Higher Education Administration sa Rossier School of Education ng University of Southern California (USC).

Kinikilala siya sa pagsususog para sa mas malaking subsidiya para sa higher education.
