Self-breast exam kontra cancer

Hinihikaya­t ng Department of Health (DoH) ang kababaihan na magsagawa ng breast self-examinatio­n na makatutulo­ng para masuri ang early stage ng breast cancer.

“Early detection of any changes in the breast and seeking immediate consultati­on will increase one’s chances of successful treatment,” ani Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

Ang breast cancer ang ikatlong pangunahin­g sanhi ng pagkamatay sa cancer, kasunod ng lung at liver cancer, ayon sa health department.

“We urge women to regularly do self-breast examinatio­n and immediatel­y visit the nearest health center should she notice any cause for concern,” ani Duque.

“For those who are already diagnosed with the disease, we encourage you to get treated at the DoH hospitals and receive holistic care through advocacy groups,” aniya pa.

Ayon sa DoH, mula 2011 hanggang 2017, mahigit 4,000 pasyente ng breast cancer ang binigyan ng libreng medisina sa ialim ng Breast Cancer Medicines Access Program.

Ang programa ay accessible sa mga sumusunod na health institutio­ns: Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, East Avenue Medical Center, Rizal Medical Center, Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital; at Philippine General Hospital.

Ang mga pasyente ng breast cancer ay maaari nang makakuha ng libreng gamot sa National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, Region 1 Medical Center, Bicol Medical Center, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Zamboanga City Medical Center, at Southern Philippine­s Medical Center.
