3 CAFGU patay, 2 nawawala sa landslide

CAMP MELCHOR F. DELA CRUZ, Gamu, Isabela - Inihayag ng militar na tatlong miyembro ng Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) ang nasawi habang dalawang iba pa ang nawawala sa pagguho ng lupa sa Barangay Banawel, Natonin, Mountain Province, nitong Martes.

Kinumpirma ni Major Jefferson Somera, tagapagsalita ng 5th Infantry Division ng Philippine Army (PA), na kabilang sina Leobel Orchilion, Linang Pallichang, at Jonathan Ngilin sa mga natabunan sa pagguho ng lupa sa gusali ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Aniya, ang tatlo ay nakatalaga sa Ubao Patrol Base sa Bgy. Ubao sa Aguinaldo, Ifugao.

Sinabi pa ni Somera na dalawa sa mga nawawala ay tauhan ng CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) Unit, sa pangangasiwa ng Alpha Company ng 77th Infantry Battalion (IB).

Sa panig naman ni Lt. Col. Rembert Baylosis, commander ng 77th Infantry Battalion, sinabi niyang on-leave ang lima nang mangyari ang landslide.

“Our five CAA’s went to work at the DPWH project in the area as laborers and skilled workers to compensate their allowances as CAA; just for the sake of those who do not know, our CAFGU personnel only work for 15days every month, and the remaining days are free for the CAA to earn additional income for their families,” ayon sa kanya.

“The whole Star Troopers grieve with the families of our CAA members. We will see to it that their families will receive all the necessary assistance that is due to them,” pahayag naman ni Major General Pefecto Rimando, commander ng 5th Infantry Battalion (IB) ng PA.

Kasama rin, aniya, ang kanilang tropa sa ipinadala sa lugar upang magsagawa ng retrieval operations.
