1st Bicol International Chess Challenge

MATAPOS ang matagumpay na 3rd WGM Janelle Mae Frayna at Mayor Noel Rosal Bicol Chess Championships nitong Oktubre 13-14, muling magsisilbing punong abala ang SM City Legazpi at gagawa ng kasaysayan bilang venue ng 1st Bicol International Chess Challenge sa Disyembre 7-13.

Ipapatupad sa FIDE-rated tourney ang standard format na may time control 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment. Gaganapin naman ang side event na rapid format na 15 mins plus 10 seconds increment.

Nakataya sa standard play ang cash prizes worth Php 110,000.00 kung saan maibubulsa ng magkakampeon habang ang Php30,000 , habang ang 2nd ay Php20,000 ang 3RD ay Php15.000 , 4TH ay Php10,000, 5TH ay Php8,000, 6th ay Php6,000, 7th ay Php4,000, ang 8th ay Php3,000, 9th ay Php2,000, at 10th ay Php2,000. May category prizes din na Php 2,000 sa best U18, U16, U12, best girl at best veteran. Ang mechanics ng rapid side event ay ipapahayag sa opening sa Disyembre 7.

Ang torneong ito na inorganisa ng D’Plaza Chess Association of the Philippines sa pakikipagtulungan ng Chess Director Chess Club Coalition of the Philippines na ang chairman ay si Martin “Binky” Gaticales, ang NCFP director & NCFP Promotion & Program Committee Chairman, vice-chair Atty. Cliburn Anthony Orbe, NCFP director & treasurer, at FIDE Master (FM) Narquinden Reyes ang club treasurer.

Ang iba pang club directors ay sina Luis Ramos (NCFP director) at Atty. Edmundo Legaspi (NCFP director).

Personal ng mangangasiwa sa torneong ito si U.S.-based D’Plaza director at Caloocan High School Batch 83 alumnus Carmelito V. Mejia na hinihikayat ang mga manlalaro na maagang magpatala para makakuha ng diskuwento.
