ITATAMPOK ng probinsiya ng Guimaras ang mga proyekto at gawain nito sa integrated coastal management (ICM), dahil nakatakda nitong pamunuan ang Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia Network of Local Governments (PNLG) Forum sa Nobyembre 29.

“The implementation of the (ICM) program here is good and we are the first local government unit from out of the implementing sites to publish the second state of the coast publication,” pahayag ni Jaypee Kein Entredicho, executive assistant ng Office of the Governor.

Sa pagbabahagi ni Entredicho, itatampok ng probinsiya ang sampu sa 12 Marine Protected Areas ng Guimaras, kabilang ang Taklong Island National Marine Reserve (TINMR) – na kinilala bilang pinakanatatanging National Integrated Protected Area System (NIPAS) Marine Protected Areas sa Pilipinas.

Ipakikita rin ng lalawigan sa mga delegado ang Igang Bay Marine Sanctuary, ang Pamanculan Fish Sanctuary, ang Igang Marine Station (IMS) - SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department, ang Tan-Luc Marine Protected Area, at ang Tumalintinan Point Marine Protected Area.

“We are now preparing the sites and talking with people’s organizations and other concerned stakeholders to be ready for the international gathering,” dagdag pa ni Entredicho.

Inaasahan sa forum, na may temang “25 Years of Partnerships for Healthy Oceans, People and Economies: Moving as One with the Global Ocean Agenda”, ang pakikilahok ng mga environmental ministers at chief executives mula sa Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Thailand at Vietnam.

Idaraos ang forum sa Andana Resort sa bayan ng Nueva Valencia.
