Chevron Volunteer Week

BILANG bahagi ng pagdiriwang sa ika11anibersaryo ng Chevron Volunteer Week, gayundin sa pagpapatibay ng ‘social responsibilty’ ng kumpanya, nagsagawa ng breadmaking workshop at feeding program para sa mag estudyante sa elementary, habang crash course sa robotics para sa senior high school students ang isinagawa ng mga empleyado ng Chevron Philippines Inc., ang marketer ng Caltex fuels at lubricants.

Nagsagawa rin ng storytelling at palaro sa mga ulila at paglilinis at pagsasaayos sa mga tahanan ng pawikan ang grupo sa layunin mapalakas ang kaalaman hingil sa pangangalaga sa kalikasan.

Kabuuang 300 volunteers ang nakiisa sa programa na sinimulan ng Caltex Makati Credit Cooperative (CMCC) sa isinagawang Project LIVE: Labor Initiative and Volunteerism Engagement sa Barangay Pio Del Pilar sa Makati City.

“I always tell the boys to have an attitude of gratitude. When we learned that Chevron would be visiting for Volunteer Week, I told the boys that one way we can show the volunteers our gratitude is to share with them the skills the boys have learned through the program,” pahayag ni Father David Buenaventura, executive director ng Don Bosco Pugad.

Nagbigay ang Chevron ng commercial-grade dough mixer sa Don Bosco Pugad upang maipagpatuloy ang programa at pagtuturo sa paggawa ng pandesal at iba pang tinapay.

Bunsod ng tambalan ng Chevron at Don Bosco Pugad,naitayo ang Caltex-Pugad Coffee at Saints Café, isang restaurant operations and training school para sa mga kabataan na kinalinga ng Don Bosco.

Nagbigay naman ng ayuda ang Chevron Holdings Inc. para mas mapataas ang kaalaman at karunungan ng mga estudyante sa Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) senior high school ng University of Makati (UMAK).

Tinawag na ‘Discover Python’, ang naturang workshop ay nakatuon sa pagtuturo sa mga estudyante sa robotics programming. Nakagawa ang mga ito ng Raspberry Pi Kit robot gamit ang Python programming language.

“I believe this event will become one of the mostmemorable experiences of these students in their academic journey. This will surely ignite among our students a passion for IT and inspire them to do well in their studies,” pahayag ni Dean Cora Benosa ng UMAK .

Nakibahagi rin ang Chevron volunteers sa pagbibigay ng mga kagamitan at pagtuturo sa batang ulila na nasa pangangasiwa ng Asilo de San Vicente de Paul sa Paco, Manila.

“I hope that today’s activity will be a reminder for us to be more responsible with our wastes and be more mindful of how we impact the environment. Volunteer Week is our annual celebration of volunteerism, a core value of Chevron, in which we, together with our business partners, renew and act on our commitment to help the communities where we work,” sambit ni CPI Country Chairman Louie Zhang.
