URCC, mixed martial arts, pumalag sa Boxing Commission ni Pacquaio

TAHASANG tinutulan ni Alvin Aguilar, pangulo ng Wrestling Federation of the Philippines (WFP) at founder ng Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC), ang pagpapasama sa mixed martial arts sa binuong Philippine Boxing Commission

(PBC).

Ayon kay Aguilar, hinahagaan niya ang simpatiya at pagkalinga ni Senator Manny Pacquiao sa boxing, subalit hindi makatwiran na maging ang MMA ay maisama sa pangangasiwa ng PBC na inaasahang lalarga sa Hulyo sa susunod na buwan.

Nitong nakalipas na buwan, nakakuha ng sapat na suporta si Pacquiao, chairman ng

Senate Sports Committee, sa mga Senador para maisabatas ang pagbuo ng Philippine Boxing Commission na siyang mangangasiwa sa professional boxing.

Sa inisyal na budget na P150 milyon, isinama rin sa naturang commission ang mixed martial arts. Ang boxing at mixed martial arts ay parehong nasa pangangasiwa ng Games and Amusement Board (GAB) na pinamumunuan ni dating Palawan Governor at Congressman Abraham ‘Baham’ Mitra.

“The Philippine mixed martial arts movement starter with the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) since 2003. They have always been integral in ensuring the safety of the fighters ever since they have been governing the sport. All concerns regarding the fighters, promoters, managers and even the ring announcers have been monitored completely by their office,” pahayag ni Aguilar sa kanyang pagbisita sa TOPS ‘Usapang Sports’ kahapon sa NPC bldg. sa Intramuros, Manila.

Ayon kay Aguilar, nagsumite na ang URCC ng kanilang petisyon hingil dito sa Senado at sa House of Representative kung saan dinidinig ang version ng naturang batas.

“Under the GAB, wala kaming problema. Libre pa ang medical test ng lahat ng aming fighters. If they want boxing let it be, but the mixed martial arts is definitely NO for this,” sambit ni Aguilar.

Aniya, ikinagulat niya ang pagkakasama ng MMA sa boxing commission ni Senator Pacquiao.

“Kaibigan ko din si Senator Pacman. He also supporting MMA, but on this aspect I say NO.

“All of the records show that all of the local promotions have never experienced serious injuries or any death under the guidance of GAB,” sambit ni Aguilar.

Sa isinumiteng petition paper ng GAB, iginiit ng ahensiya na ang House Bill No. 6158 at House Bill No. 8257 na nagbubuo at nagbibigay ng pondo sa Philippine Boxing Commission ay mistulang duplikado lamang sa gawain at responsibilidad na matagal nang nagagawa ng GAB sa nakalipas na limang dekada.

“The Board has, through the years, institutionalized some necessary and essential measures to effectively fulfil its mandate. It has adopted and implemented rules and regulations that cater to the efficient regulation of professional sports, especially boxing,” ayon sa GAB.

Nitong 2017, ginawaran ang GAB ng World Boxing Council (WBC) bilang Commission of the Year dahil sa mga repormang isinagawa ng ahensiya kabilang ang libreng medical at CT scan sa mga fighters.
