Pinoy, ibibida ng Fil-Am artist sa Pixar short film

Pixar Animation Studios ang first-ever animated Filipino lead characters sa isang Pixar short film. May titulong Float ang animated movie na likha ng Filipino-American artist na si Bobby Rubio, kilala sa pagiging bahagi ng mga animated films tulad ng Tarzan, Avatar The Last Airbender, The Legend Of Korra, Inside Out, Up, Hercules at Incredibles 2.
Isa ang Float sa mga pelikulang kalahok sa Pixar’s Spark Shorts, isang indie film-making experiment “that welcomes new creative voices at Pixar to share their stories.”
Sa Twitter, mismong si Bobby ang nagkumpirma ng balita, sa pagtugon sa tanong ng kanyang mga followers.
“Is that two Filipino lead characters I see @BobbyRubio?!?!?!?! I’m freaking out wow,” tanong ng isang netizen na si @rachjuramirez.
“YES @rachjuramirez those are #Filipino lead characters in my #Pixar #SparkShort! @ Pixar’s first all #CGI Filipino characters! So technically, the first #Pixnoys! I am proud to tell our stories. I know what it means to see our culture represented on screen! #RepresentationMatters,” tugon ng direktor.
Sa isang hiwalay na Tweet, sinabi ni Bobby na alam niya ang pakiramdam na maging ‘underrepresented’ kaya naman nilikha niya ang mga karakter na Pinoy para sa Float.
“I am so grateful to tell our stories… I’m going to do my best to tell MORE!”dagdag pa niya.
Samantala, sa pamamagitan din ng Twitter, inihayag ng Pixar na ang first three short film ay ilalabas sa El Capitan Theater mula Enero 18, kasunod ng release nito sa YouTube sa kasunod na mga linggo.
