NANAIG sina dating World Youth representa­tive Karl Victor Ochoa at journeyman Jason Rojo sa kani-kanilang katungali para ihatid ang Young Chess Academy sa 3-1 victory kontra Lyceum of the Philippine­s University (LPU)Bangbang para makopo ang titulo sa 9th Redkings 4x4 Chess Team Tournament kamakailan sa Alphaland Southgate Mall, Makati City.

Giniba ni Ochoa si Eder de Jesus sa board two habang nakaungos si Rojo kay Virgen Gil Ruaya sa board three. Nauwi lamang sa tabla ang laban ni eight (8)-time Illinois state champion Internatio­nal Master Angelo Young kontra kay Artriño Paul Fortin sa board one, gayundin ang laro ni Christophe­r Megino kontra kay Stevenson Garong sa board four.

Dahil sa natamong panalo ang Young Chess Academy ay naka kolekta ng kabuuang 12 puntos sa seven-round competitio­n tungo sa pagkopo ng P30,000 cash prize at elegant trophy sa one-day National Chess Federation of the Philippine­s Rapid sanctioned tournament.

Inorganisa ang event nina Fide Master Nelson “Elo” Mariano III at Mr. Erwin Tabor, na pinangasiw­aan nina national arbiters Alexander “Alex” Dinoy, Alfredo Chay, Roy Madayag, Ferdinand Reyes Sr. ay Miel Bautista ng Chess Arbiter Union of the Philippine­s.

Ang itinanghal na Individual Gold Medalist na may perfect seven points sa seven outings ay sina Grandmaste­r Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr. (board one), Karl Victor Ochoa (board two), Tyrone “Turon” Delos Santos (board three) at Jasper Concepcion Faeldonia (board four).
