R80-M, inilaan sa test kits vs ASF
Naglaan ang Department of Agriculture (DA) ng P80 milyon para sa development at production ng locally made test kits na kayang mag-detect ng African Swine Fever (ASF).
Binuo ng Central Luzon State University (CLSU), katuwang ang DA Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), ang ASF rapid test kit, na tinatawag na ASFV Nanogold Biosensor.
Sinabi ninAgriculture Secretary William Dar na bahagi ng P80-milyon budget para sa BABay ASF program ay magmumula sa DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) para palakasin ang
mass production ng test kits katuwang ang iba pang interesadong mga pribadong kumpanya at State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
“With this development, the DA-BAI personnel and LGU veterinarians can now administer the kit for biosecurity measures, profiling of farms for repopulation, and surveillance and monitoring activities, at a much faster rate right at the so-called Ground Zero and more economical,” sinabi ni Dar sa isang pahayag nitong Sabado.
“We can even have these test kits on standby at the port of entries for a quick sampling of the meat products entering the country,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi ng DA na ang rapid test kits ay gumagamit ng nucleic acidbased test Mayroon itong built-in DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) extraction at molecular amplification process na gumagamit ng primers o markers, na ang gene sequence ay dinisenyo mula sa P72 gene ng ASF virus na nakahiwalay sa lalawigan ng Rizal, dagdag nito.
Sinabi ng Kagawaran na ang test kit ay kayang tuluyin ang pagkakaroon ng
ASF kahit na sa pamamagitan ng surface swabbing ng mga babangan ng baboy at delivery trucks, laway, at nasal swab, dumi, tubig, semilya, feed, aspirated whole blood, o blood-soaked swabs, at kahit sa mga langaw
Ang ASF test kit ay nagkakahalaga ng P3,500, na magagamit para sa 10 sample o P350 bawat sample, sinabi ng Kagawaran.
Sinabi ng DA na nasubukan din ito sa 32 komersyal at siyam na backyard farms sa Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, at Nueva Ecija.
“Preliminary results showed high accuracy and detection rate using the test kits. For its part, the DA-BAI offers free ASF testing, while private laboratories charge about P3,000 per test,” dagdag ng Department.
