Pilgrim Churches para sa 500 Taon ng Kristiyanismo

Sampung simbahan sa Archdiocese ng Maynila ang idedeklara bilang mga pilgrim church sa pagdiriwang ng 500 taon ng pagdating ng Kristiyanismo sa Pilipinas.

Sinabi ng Archdiocese of Manila Office of Communication na ang mga simbahang ito ang mga sumusunod:

Manila Cathedral (Manila), Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene/Quiapo Church (Manila), Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guia (Manila), Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Niño de Tondo (Manila), San Pablo Apostol Parish (Manila),’Santa Clara de Montefalco Parish (Pasay), National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Makati), Sts. Peter and Paul Parish (Makati), San Felipe Neri Parish (Mandaluyong), at St. John the Baptist Parish (San Juan)

Sinabi ng arkidiyosesis na ang pilgrim churches na ito ay magiging “centers of prayer, forgiveness, and charitable works during this jubilee year.”

Humiling na ang Catholic Bishops ’Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) sa Apostolic Penitentiary para sa pagbibigay ng mga indulhensiya sa mga simbahang ito. Naniniwala si Father Reginald Malicdem, rektor ng Manila Cathedral, na ang simbahan ay pinili bilang isa sa mga simbahan ng peregrinasyon dahil sa makasaysayang kahalagahan nito.

“Manila is the first diocese in the Philippines and the Manila Cathedral is the first cathedral in the country. That is why Pope Francis called the Manila Cathedral as the mother church of the Philippines,” sinabi niya sa isang panayam nitong Lunes.

Ikinararangal naman ni Monsignor Hernando Coronel, rector ng Quiapo Church, ang pagtatalaga.

“It is an honor for our community. I can’t speak for our churches. But for us, our people are undergoing the cross of poverty through the centuries till now,” aniya.

“Our Lord Jesus always accompanies us in our trials and hardships in life, including the present pandemic. The Nazarene shows His caring love to Filipinos and we respond in faith and devotion,” dagdag ni Coronel.

Ang Apostolic Administrator ng Archdiocese of Manila na si Bishop Broderick Pabillo ang magbubukas ng pintuan ng jubilee ng Manila Cathedral sa Abril 4, 2021, Easter Sunday. Bubuksan niya ang mga pintuan ng jubilee ng iba pang mga simbahan ng peregrinasyon sa Linggo ng Pagkabuhay.

Itatalaga din ang mga simbahan ng jubilee sa iba pang mga diyosesis at archdioceses sa bansa.

Ang Jubilee Year ay magbubukas sa Abril 4, 2021, at magsasara sa Abril 18, 2022, kasama ang Second National Mission Congress sa Cebu.
