PBA app a new way to enjoy the league
FANS of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) have another avenue to keep tabs on the league with the introduction of a mobile app in time for the start of the 42nd season of Asia’s first play-for-pay league.
Formally introduced early this week in the press conference ushering the new PBA season, which starts on Sunday, Nov. 20, the PBA App is designed to bring the league further closer to the fans.
“The new PBA App is a direct way for fans to get to know what is happening in the PBA and their favorite players. Through it they can get news, player profiles, results, schedules and events all in one place as well as play the league’s fantasy basketball game,” said Fred Fateh of app creator Appefize Pte Ltd. during the introduction.
Mr. Fateh said they have only scratched the surface and they intend to introduce new features as the season progresses for fans to stay engaged.
For PBA officials, the introduction of the PBA App, which is available for free download both on Google Play and Apple App Store, was necessary in line with the league’s thrust to reach and connect to more people as well as to stay in tune with the times.
“While the PBA as an institution is already established it has to continue to evolve and expand its reach and one way to go about it is the PBA App,” said Mikee Romero, GlobalPort Batang Pier owner and current PBA chairman.
“We have to make the league bigger and engaging before and after the games. We want the PBA to exponentially grow in the years to come and we hope this app facilitates in that push,” he added. —
