Separate P1-M reward put up for info on BIR exec’s murder

-

A CASH REWARD of P1 million has been offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the killers of an official of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) who was ambushed in Quezon City on Monday morning.

BIR Regional Director Jonas Amora of Revenue Region 8- Makati City died when gunmen opened fire on his car at the corner of C5 Katipunan. His driver Angelito Pineda was wounded.

Mr. Amora’s killing followed on the heels of Customs deputy commissioner Arturo Lachica’s killing in Manila last Thursday, Nov. 17. Mr. Lachica’s driver was also wounded when they were ambushed, also by riding- in- tandem assassins, along España Boulevard.

‘STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL’

According to a statement by the BIR’s mother agency, the Department of Finance (DoF), on which this report is based, the cash reward offer for the arrest of Mr. Amora’s killers was made by the same person who offered a separate P1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Mr. Lachica’s killers.

The statement said the identity of this person who made the cash reward offers is “strictly confidential.”

The DoF said it is “in contact with the highest levels of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to arrest the perpetrators of both murders.”

Those who have any information relevant to the murders of Messrs. Lachica and/or Amora can contact either DoF head executive assistant Marc Gregory Crisostomo or technical assistant Alddon Christner Ang at telephone nos. 5239215 and 5239219, the BIR statement said.

Robbery did not appear to be the motive in the case of Mr. Amora’s murder after more than P300,000 was recovered from his vehicle.
