MARTIAL Law victims and other groups against the burial of late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos at the Heroes’ Cemetery have called for a nationwide peaceful rally on Friday. “This peaceful rally invites Filipinos from all walks of life to come together in remembering and in protest… Let us come together to proclaim that we will never forget and that we will continue the unfinished struggle for genuine freedom, democracy and justice,” said the group Campaign Against the Return of the Marcoses to Malacañang (Carmma). Baguilat calls on schools to teach ‘evils of Martial Law’

IFUGAO Rep. Teddy B. Baguilat yesterday urged private and public educational institutions to “intensify education on the evils of Martial Law and threats to democracy amid growing attempts to revise history and clear the late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos of culpability.” Mr. Baguilat admitted that in 2011, he was among those in Congress who signed a resolution supporting a Marcos burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. However, he said in a statement, “I have since gained personal insight about the issue after further discussions with various stakeholders and my current position that the dictator Marcos does not deserve to be buried at the Libingan is my conclusive stand on the matter.”

PHINMA-UPang organizes #AgMiGabay protest day

The PHINMA-University of Pangasinan, which hosted the Luzon leg of the presidential town hall debates last April, yesterday organized several activities in protest of the burial of late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos at the Heroes’ Cemetery, including a film showing of The Martial Law Documentary, noise barrage and candle lighting. The school said the event was intended “not to divide the students but to provide them venue for protest, if that’s their stand. This is open for all yet not mandatory.”

Nov. 23 gathering at Dagupan Catholic church

A gathering against the Marcos burial is also set at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the St. John the Evangelist Cathedral in Dagupan City.

“It is not a partisan activity serving vested political interests. The rally is being organized to provide a venue for our collective indignation, to show those in power that the fight does not end with the interment of the dictator’s remains.” — Campaign Against the Return of the Marcoses to Malacañang (Carmma), Nov. 21 statement
