43-hour water service interruption in 15 QC barangays begins Dec. 5
THERE will be a 43-hour water service interruption in Quezon City to give way to the replacement of a defective valve, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. advised on Thursday.
In a statement, Maynilad said the defective valve is along its 1,200 mm-diameter primary line along Tandang Sora Ave. in Talipapa, Quezon City.
The activity will cause a 43hour water service interruption in 15 barangays in the city, starting at 8:00 p.m. on Dec. 5, Monday, until 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 7, Wednesday.
“Valves are necessary for managing the flow and pressure of water inside our pipelines. Hence, it is essential that we have this defective valve replaced immediately to prevent any problems from occurring in the future,” said Ronaldo C. Padua, head of Maynilad’s water supply operations.
The barangays that will be affected by supply interruptions are Apolonio Samson, Baesa, Bahay Toro, Bungad, Damayan, Del Monte, Katipunan, Mariblo, Paltok, Paraiso, San Antonio, Sangandaan, Talipapa, Tandang Sora and Veterans Village.
Maynilad said it would take about 43 hours to stop water flow through the four-foot tall primary line. It will also insert a line stopper to isolate the valve that will be replaced, and install the new valve before letting the water flow back via the primary line.
The company advised its customers to store water ahead of the replacement work. It also told those with existing overhead tanks to clean these first before using them to store water.
“Meanwhile, to minimize the inconvenience brought on by the valve replacement activity, Maynilad will have 14 water tankers on standby to serve areas with interrupted supply. Customers may call Maynilad’s Water Tankering Hot line 737- 3311 to ask for a water tanker delivery,” Maynilad said.
