Holiday Inn Manila’s executive housekeeper feted

NOVEMBER 28 was a memorable day for Holiday Inn Manila Galleria’s Executive Housekeeper, Daniel Convocar. He was hailed as Outstanding Manager of the Association of Human Resources Managers (AHRM) through the prestigious Mabuhay Awards 2016.

Mr. Convocar, as he is fondly called, joined Holiday Inn Manila Galleria, formerly Manila Galleria Suites, in 1993. A true success story, he was a young man who was passionate in providing great service to hotel guests, and rose from the ranks. He was also part of the pre-opening team of sister hotel, Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria and led the housekeeping department for two years prior to its grand opening.

His 23 years of experience in the industry allowed him to meet different kinds of guests with different cultural background. He is a believer of Filipino hospitality and its world- class attributes which Filipinos are most known for.

“Filipino hospitality is the very key to what sets Filipino hoteliers apart. Our knowledge, experiences, beliefs, values and attitudes revolve around this culture,” he shared.

Apart from being on top of housekeeping operations, he is also a mentor to his staff where he shared fulfillment each time guests recognize their effort. “When guests show their appreciation even on small things, it motivates us,” he added.

Mr. Convocar works harmoniously with his colleagues and known to be one of the most-loved personnel in the hotel. He exemplifies the balance in providing great service to guests and great working environment to his colleagues.

Mabuhay Awards 2016 highlighted Filipino Hospitality at its Best, now on its 21st year of recognizing hospitality professionals who excel in their respective fields in the industry.
