THE MODEL THAT was teased at the Philippine International Motor Show in September has arrived in showrooms.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has delivered on its promise, made at the motor show, of a December market release for the new Honda BR-V as it announced it had started selling the model on Dec. 10.

The seven-seat SUV is available in four variants — 1.5 S CVT, 1.5 S CVT Modulo, 1.5 V Navi CVT and 1.5 V Navi CVT Modulo — that are priced between P989,000 and P1.185 million. HCPI said the BR-V has a “commanding exterior, modern and expansive interior, and dynamic driving performance,” as well as “top-notch safety features.” As an SUV, the model has a ground clearance of 201 millimeters.

The company noted that the variants with the Modulo package are “bolder and more athletic.” The Modulo variants get special spoilers on the front, side and rear, has integrated rear corner sensors, and fitted with daytime running lights. The 1.5 V Navi CVT Modulo adds a tailgate spoiler, shark fin antenna and side step garnish.

HCPI said customers can also retrofit Modulo accessories.

Other features of the BR-V may include projector- type headlamps, front fog lamps, bumper skid garnish, roof rails, 16- inch alloy wheels, and LED taillights. In the cabin, the 1.5 Navi is distinguished by leather seats, smart entry with pushbutton start/stop, automatic climate control, and touch screen audio with built-in Garmin navigation.

The entry- level variant also gets a touch screen audio, dual air-conditioning, and a three-row seating configuration.

Powering the BR-V is a 1.5-liter, 120hp, 145Nm, i-VTEC engine that also sees duty in the Honda Jazz and City. Only a CVT, equipped with paddle shifters, is matched to the engine.

Color options offered are Taffeta White, Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Premium Amber Metallic and White Orchid Pearl.
