Fifty Shades musical parody back for a limited run

- By Camille Anne M. Arcilla Reporter

BEFORE getting too excited over the movie’s sequel coming out in February 2017, here is the chance to catch the raunchy stage adaptation once again as 50 SHADES! The Musical

Parody goes on a limited run on Dec. 15-17 at the Music Museum in San Juan.

After its successful run early this year, the sexy hilarious romp returns with the original Filipino cast led by Karel Marquez as Anna and veteran theater actor Lorenz Martinez as Mr. Grey. They are joined by a fiery mix of thespians — Julz Savard, George Schulze, Jasmine Fitzgerald, Shiela Valderrama Martinez, Sarah Facuri, Sheng Belmonte, Chesko Rodriguez, Ryan Sy, and Matthias Rhoads. The original book Fifty Shades of

Grey — a 2011 erotic romance novel by British author E. L. James which chronicles the adventures of a college student, Anastasia Steele, and her S& M encounters with the young business magnate, Christian Grey — topped best- seller lists around the world, with million copies sold worldwide. Though ciritcally savaged, it was such a hit with readers that three more volumes were written — sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty

Shades Freed which were published in 2012, and Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as

Told by Christian, a version of thre original book told from Christian’s point of view, which was released in 2015. Fifty Shades of Grey’s 2015 movie adaptation went on to earn $571 million worldwide. That movie’s sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, is coming out on Valentine’s Day next year.

The musical opens with a ladies book club deciding to read Fifty

Shades of Grey. Through their interpretation of the novel, the audience is led on a hilarious roller coaster ride of this unlikely best- seller. The show is full of dance numbers and 11 original songs including “How Much Can I Take?,” “I Don’t Make Love,” and “There’s a Hole Inside of Me.” Like the book series, 50 SHADES!

The Musical Parody is not for audience members under the age of 18. It must also be noted that 50

SHADES! The Musical Parody is not associated with, endorsed or authorized by E.L. James or Vintage Books. For tickets, visit www.ticketworld. com.ph or call 891-9999.
