CPS®: J.VAZ.CO.’s Contribution to the Building Industry
The building industry remains vibrant and dynamic in the Philippines today, as new, sophisticated, and more elegant properties rise in tune with the ongoing construction boom.
It is within this atmosphere of active change, progress, and innovation that J. VAZ.CO. shares its expertise in the niche of concrete polishing. As pioneers and proponents of this process, J.VAZ.CO. has acquired the skill, proficiency, and prowess culled from years of experience in creating concrete solutions for floors and walls. Such is the company’s mastery that it has established its own concrete polishing system (CPS ®), which it applies on projects for schools, processing plants, warehouses, retail outlets, parking areas, offices, and even residential properties.
Using CPS ® on concrete floors is a timely and relevant option available to builders. After all, CPS ® is cost- effective, efficient, sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to maintain. Likewise, polished concrete surfaces are harder and stronger, especially when PentraSil® Nano-Lithium Concrete Chemical Hardener, Sealer, and Densifier has been applied to reinforce the surface of the concrete. J.VAZ.CO.’s roster of prestigious clients, in fact, have proven the value of CPS ® for themselves and have embraced the process wholeheartedly.
The good results of CPS ®, however, hinge largely on the quality of the concrete itself to begin with. What matters is the concrete mix – a combination of water, aggregate (rock, sand, or gravel), and cement. So whatever is placed into the virgin concrete affects the quality of the polished concrete floor. Another crucial factor is PSI (Pounds per Square Inch), a rating used for the strength of the concrete. Before applying CPS ®, it would be wise to get it right the first time by checking on the strength and mix of the poured concrete.
When the concrete mix is not up to standard, and/or when the actual laying work leaves much to be desired, builders may encounter some of the most common challenges to their concrete floor. For example, a delaminated floor is a result of the lack of primer and the proper preparation of underlayment; pop- outs develop when improper aggregates and sand, or aggregates with charcoal and pumice, are incorporated into the mix. Cracks can occur when there are no saw cuts, construction joints, and contraction joints; thermal cracks are affected by high and low temperatures. Likewise, when the floor is not even or leveled, the flatwork contractor may not have the skill or experience to do it properly.
J.VAZ.CO. helps builders set things right from the very beginning by assessing the condition of the concrete floor. But the company goes beyond an evaluation of the condition of the concrete after pouring. It also encourages clients or prospective clients to involve J.VAZ. CO. during the planning stage so that it can recommend to them what they can do to avoid incurring additional costs. In this manner, J.VAZ.CO. sets strong foundations, both for their concrete floor, as well as its relationship with them.
J.VAZ.CO.’s clients attest to the quality of the company’s work, which has more than met their expectations. And at the same time, the company continues to gain significant learnings about CPS ®, particularly the importance of the correct concrete quality poured upon the initial stages of construction work.
That is why J.VAZ.CO. owner and president, Junjie Vazquez, considers it his advocacy to promote proper perspectives and procedures for the way people in the flatwork industry approach concrete. “This is our contribution to them,” Junjie says. “We look forward to 2017, when we can share more of our knowledge, offer more products, and expand our services. By these, we hope to help our clients get good results for their polished concrete floor.”
