Dusit Thani Manila names Director of Sales & Marketing

BORN and raised in the Philippines, Leilani Merilo, Dusit Thani Manila’s new Director of Sales and Marketing has an established and noteworthy career in the hospitality industry. She brings far more than two decades of strong experience and a wealth of insight in hotel sales and marketing gained from working in Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines.

Aside from sales and marketing, Ms. Merilo is most known to have mastered business development for hotel management contracting and solid background on preopening properties, property take-over and market research for budget presentations.

She is very hands-on in the timely execution of approved business plans, guiding, leading and motivating staff to achieve their full potential and highly revenue management driven.

She enjoys being a hotelier particularly in the hotel sales & marketing due to the challenges in achieving goals, to be dynamic in implementing strategies, meet expectations, and the drive to be on top of the competition.

Prior to joining Dusit Thani Manila, Ms. Merilo held a number of senior positions in various prestigious hotels in both local and international. The last four years of her hospitality career were spent with Hotel Borobudur Jakarta as director of Sales and Marketing.

With her passion, drive, and commitment to excellence, her term was the glorious year of the five- star hotel having achieved a record-breaking revenue and occupancy. It was also under her guidance and leadership that Hotel Borobudur received the Indonesia Travel & Tourism Awards from 2012-2015 and World Luxury Hotel Award from 2014-2015.

Ms. Merilo studied at San Sebastian College in Manila and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She can speak different languages such as English, Thai, Bahasa and Spanish. When not at work, she loves to travel, explore the cities, know its culture and experience local life.
