PLDT and Smart Enterprise Drives Faster Emergency Response for the City of Bacoor
BACOOR CITY, Philippines – Leading telecommunications and digital services provider PLDT, Inc., through its corporate business group PLDT ALPHA and wireless arm Smart Enterprise, partnered with the city government of Bacoor, Cavite to enhance the city’s emergency response systems through the SOS Dispatch Solution.
As a digital emergency response system, the SOS Dispatch solution allows for effective end-to-end incident management. It equips command centers with technology that aids in evaluating and dispatching the necessary responders with incident-appropriate equipment on time. When a distress call is made, GPS technology accurately pinpoints the caller’s location. The Public Safety and Emergency Response (PSER) Command and Control Center dashboard fields contact center agents who collect, organize, disseminate, and monitor all crucial information regarding an emergency in near-real time. The data is then sent to the responders on dedicated handheld sets with Push-to-Talk (PTT) capabilities, as a means for verification and to help them better locate and respond to the problem.
The solution also acts as a direct link between residents and local government units (LGUs) during emergencies through its two- way mobile technology. Using mobile devices, citizens can transmit photos and live- feed videos of the emergency immediately.
The ceremonial contract signing marked the solution’s launch in the city, and was held in the gymnasium of Bacoor City Hall. Mayor Lani MercadoRevilla stated that she is “honored and excited” by the new partnership with PLDT ALPHA and Smart Enterprise, noting that the new mobile solution has great potential to upgrade services for the entire Bacoor community. Head of Bacoor Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) Richard Quion echoed the same sentiment, stating “We expect a continued and strong relationship in terms of servicing the people through the technology provided by PLDT ALPHA and Smart Enterprise to the city government.”
The solution is envisioned to serve as the backbone for synchronized and seamless connections between Bacooreños and the local government. “When a life is at stake, every moment matters. The mobile technology behind the SOS Dispatch system can greatly enhance the ability of Bacoor’s LGUs to respond and protect its citizens in times of great need,” remarked PLDT VP and Head of PLDT ALPHA Vic Tria.
Now that the partnership with PLDT ALPHA and Smart Enterprise has been inked, the City of Bacoor is all set to become the nation’s promising frontier for such a vital mobile solution.
