Open call for kids
ATLANTIS THEATRICAL Entertainment Group announces open call auditions for boys and girls ages seven to 12 for roles in the West End and Broadway hit musical The Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s is the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Roles to be filled include Matilda, Bruce, Lavender and the rest of her singing, dancing, high-energy young classmates. Auditions will be held on March 18 at the G-Force Dance Center, Penthouse II, TerrazzoE, 35 Thomas Morato Ave. corner Scout Madriñan St., Quezon City. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. while auditions will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The children must come prepared to sing one musical theater song and bring a 3R headshot photo, a copy of their birth certificate, a CV, a guardian’s waiver/consent, and be prepared to fill out a registration form upon arrival. will premiere in Manila in November with rehearsals beginning mid-September. Digital art at Gateway
THE Araneta Center’s Gateway Gallery marks the 2nd anniversary of its
exhibit — which depicts prehistoric Philippines up to the time of President Benigno S.C Aquino III in 30 large paintings by the artists of the UP College of Fine Arts — by giving the exhibit a digital interface that utilizes augmented reality (AR). On Feb. 22, the Gallery will launch which aims to create awareness of history among the youth by appealing to their interest in digital technology. By downloading a free app (on iOS and Android), visitors will be able to see 10 select paintings “come to life” on their WIFI-enabled digital device like mobile phones and tablets. Using the app, gallery visitors can point their device to the key paintings to watch the video and hear the narration on chapters of Philippine history. Located at the 5th level of the Gateway Tower at the Araneta Center, Gateway Gallery is free to the public and is open Mondays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is supported and managed by the J. Amado Araneta Foundation, the CSR arm of the Araneta Group.

Weerasethakul at MCAD
APICHATPONG Weerasethakul: The Serenity of Madness opens on Feb. 17, 5:30 p.m., at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) at the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, School of Design and Arts Campus, Vito Cruz, Malate, Manila. This is a traveling exhibition curated by Gridthiya Gaweewong and produced by Independent Curators International (ICI), New York.
Mañosa at Nat’l Museum
a retrospective exhibit of original drawings and models from Francisco T. Mañosa’s body of work, including plans and projects never before seen by the public, opened at National Museum yesterday at the Trustees Hall, 4th Floor, National Museum of the Philippines. Mañosa is best known for his work on the Coconut Palace, the Amanpulo and Pearl Farm resorts, the EDSA Shrine and other Philippine landmarks. The exhibit is on view until May 12. Accompanying the exhibition is a lecture series for architecture and design students that will run Saturdays at the National Museum Auditorium from February to May. Guest lecturers on topics ranging from Art, Architecture & Design, to Philippine Textiles and Building Materials, to Nationalism and Nation-building include architects Gelo Mañosa, Gerard Lico, Christian Salandanan and Ning Encarnacion; Art historian Patrick Flores; Culture and heritage advocate Ino Manalo; Design creatives Bambi Mañosa, and Medilen Singh; performance artist Joey Ayala, and more. Casa de Memoria auction
THEMED “400 Years of Fine & Decorative Arts,” Casa de Memoria’s first auction for 2017 will be held on March 4, 2 p.m. Among this auction’s items are a Limoges dinner service of 153 pieces from France, a Napoleon III style marble-topped cabinet in the taste of Boulle, a 17th century Flemish oil on wood painting depicting the “Adoration of the Magi,” a French porcelain vase dated to the 19th century, a 20th century mixed media painting called
