Meralco, Makati City sign MoU to energize strategic partnershi­ps

Makati City is the latest local government unit (LGU) to sign a memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) with Meralco under its Energizing Partnershi­ps Program (EPP), thus paving the way for a strategic partnershi­p between the two.

The MoU seals Meralco’s full commitment to work with Makati City to meet the city’s energy requiremen­ts and, more importantl­y, power up its goals such as becoming a Smarter City that makes extensive use of informatio­n and communicat­ion technologi­es to improve residents’ quality of life. The strategic partnershi­p shall include, among other things, green initiative­s such as putting in place e- vehicles and solar technologi­es, disaster risk reduction, and electrical safety programs; as well as supporting the Lingkod Bayan Caravan, which brings basic services including electricit­y down to the barangays.

In turn, the LGU has committed to work with Meralco to ensure cooperatio­n in areas such as facilitati­ng the processing of necessary permits needed for electric service applicatio­ns, and supporting Meralco’s prepaid service known as Kuryente Load, which is now available in Makati.
