Isuzu introduces upgraded Mu-X Black Series variant
MOVING away from the glitter that marked vehicle décor in the last few years is the Isuzu Mu-X SUV, which in a newly released variant has been fitted with trendy dark trim.
Unveiled on March 17 by Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) at Isuzu Cebu City was the Black Series version of the Mu-X 3.0 LS-A 4x2 AT. The vehicle is set apart from other Mu-X variants by its black radiator grille and hood garnish, as well as by a two-tone front bumper that’s color-matched to the body, but with its lower part finished in black. Also getting the same dark treatment are the roof rails, side step boards and tailgate garnish. Redesigned two-tone, 17-inch alloy wheels complete the external makeover.
The changes extend to the Mu-X Black Series’ interior, which gets carbon-fiber accents on the key cover, scuff plates and other panels. Also new are door armrests and the center console covered in soft padding, and an organizer box.
Shojiro Sakoda, IPC executive vice- president, explained that the Mu- X’s flagship status means the model “deserves to have the best features that address the expectations of even more discerning customers,” and the Black Series is the “latest product of such efforts.”
Mechanically, the Mu-X Black Series is unchanged. It is powered by a 161hp, 380Nm 3.0- liter diesel engine that has common rail direct injection, an intercooler and a variable geometry turbocharger. A five-speed automatic transmission with a sequential-shift function is attached to this engine.
Also retained in the Black Series are Mu-X LS-A’s projector-type head lights, daytime running lamps, a center-mounted roof antenna, chrome power-folding side-view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, a rear spoiler, and six- speaker entertainment system that can connect to various media and which has an eight-inch touch screen display and a 10-inch ceiling-mounted video monitor.
IPC sells the Mu-X Black Series for P1.568 million. The variant comes in either Cosmic Black and Garnet Red colors.
