Protect to focus on cyber security and preventing terrorism

PROTECT 2017, a conference-exhibition that empowers government and the private sector to detect and prevent future cyberattac­ks and terrorism, will be held on March 29 and 30 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

At Protect 2017, experience­d national and corporate security executives discuss the present state of security both in the real world, the cyber world and in the Web. Launched in 2005 with the Anti-Terrorism Council, the Protect series is the only government-private sector partnershi­p devoted to security and safety.

Experts include Secretary Hermogenes C. Esperon, Jr., National Security adviser (keynote speaker) and executives of Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, FireEye, US FBI, Control Risks, Dahua Technology Co., Rappler and others.

Protect 2017 features a very specialize­d exhibit of the latest in network camera, IP storage, access control, smart locks and alarm, mobile products, network and security solutions, forensics, analytics, distributi­on and delivery of high-tech products, CCTVs, firewall and bandwidth controller, CBRN decontamin­ation devices, security seal, and printing, firearms and ammunition­s, fire safety and suppressio­n systems, IT solutions, storage and core infrastruc­ture, data leakage protection and authentica­tion, and solutions for enterprise risk management, kidnap and ransom and other security systems and products.

There will be free technical presentati­ons during the two days of the exhibit. Zhejiang Dahua Technol- ogy of China which had the 2nd highest market share of global video surveillan­ce equipment market in 2015 according to the IHS 2016 report and fourth in 2016 by a&s Security 50, will present a Smart City Solution for a Safer Life.

HomeScenar­io, Inc. of Taiwan will present a Cloudbased Integrated Smart Building Solution for large scale premium projects, residences, hotels, offices, factories, and customized installati­ons.

Prodatanet will present network security and green tech systems to secure data and turn costs into savings.

Naffco FZCO among the world’s leading producers of top-tier firefighti­ng equipment will demonstrat­e fire safety and security solutions. There will be a panel discussion on Overcoming Security Threats chaired by Angel Redoble, Chairman and Founding President of the Philippine Institute of Cyber Security Profession­als. Constituti­ng the panel are officials of the US Federal Bureau of Investigat­ion, Microsoft, Oracle and Cybersecur­ity Phil Cert. Other security threats will be discussed by senior officials of Thales, IPOPHIL, Philippine National Police, PDEA and other relevant government agencies with former ATC Coordinato­r Ricardo Blancaflor, Big data, Risk Analysis and National Security, Insurance and risk solutions will be discussed by Steve Cutler of Guide Meridian and Andrew Minnitt of AON.

The session ends with forecasts on natural and man-made security threats by an expert from FireEye, Dr. Lagmay (DoST), Dr. Gunaratna and Maj. Gen. Molina (AFP). To deliver the closing address will be Presidenti­al Adviser for Anti-Terrorism Gen. Benjamin Defensor from the Anti-Terrorism Council.
