McDonald’s PHL labor standards certified compliant by DoLE

-

GOLDEN Arches Development Corp., holder of the Philippine franchise for McDonald’s restaurants, said it received a Certificate of Compliance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), after its National Capital Region branches were deemed compliant with general labor standards and occupational safety and health standards.

The company said it became the first quickservice restaurant chain to be certified by the current administration.

The certification covers the condition of work premises, and contracting and subcontracting regulations, the company said in a statement.

The company, which established its first restaurant in the country in 1981, said it has over 50,000 regular employees and plans to hire 5,000 more this year to help staff a 50-store expansion.

The company said it is also one of the biggest employers of students, who are given training opportunities for possible hiring as regular staff later.

“At McDonald’s it is important that we provide our employees with world-class training and other learning opportunities for their personal development,” Kenneth S. Yang, the company’s president and CEO, said in the statement.
