Go Mindanao tourist bus launch moved to September
THE LAUNCH of the Go Mindanao tourist bus project has been moved to September as the operator and government agencies are still finalizing routes and facilities. Lucio B. Jamero Jr. of Go Mindanao, a subsidiary of the Uy-owned Metro Shuttle Bus Co. that operates in the Davao Region, said they are in close coordination with the Department of Tourism (DoT), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Authority (TIEZA), and the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) for identifying key loops that will be covered by the special tour buses. The Go Mindanao buses will operate routes similar to provincial buses, but will make special stops in tourism “hubs” identified by participating local government units (LGUs). TIEZA will help the LGUs set up the hubs. In September, the company will have its initial run between the cities of Davao and General Santos, which will also “serve as a test run for our bus crews and captains who are trained by the DoT,” Mr. Jamero said at a media forum here Wednesday. —
