ICTSI wins Grand Anvil for 1-Stop TABS

Brings home 9 Anvils

-

International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) implementation and multi-stakeholder engagement of the 1-Stop Terminal Appointment Booking System (TABS) at the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) was adjudged the best public relations (PR) program by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), and conferred to ICTSI the 2016 Grand Anvil, the highest honor given by the country’s largest organization for PR professionals.

The brainchild of ICTSI Senior Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific Region and MICT Christian R. Gonzalez, TABS is a web booking appointment system for trucks coming in and going out of the port area. It helped ease Metro Manila traffic by managing the flow and scheduling the trips of container trucks plying the city roads, and helping solve and prevent supply chain backlogs at the Port of Manila.

“The Grand Anvil for TABS is proof that ICTSI puts first the interest of the port community and supply chain stakeholders, the trucking industry in particular, and the commuting public in general. I thank PRSP for recognizing our TABS implementation as the first stakeholder engagement program in the supply chain sector to win the coveted Grand Anvil. We share this award with our government partners, the Department of Transportation, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Bureau of Customs, Metro Manila Development Authority, the City of Manila, and former Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, for being our co-champions for TABS,” Mr. Gonzalez said in acknowledgement of the award.

In awarding the Grand Anvil, PRSP cited ICTSI for “setting remarkable performance records” in terms of additional revenues for the government, improved port operations and processes, and better productivity for port users especially trucking operators. PRSP also lauded TABS for gaining the government’s policy support and the cooperation of stakeholders that ended a cyclical crisis and prevented potential losses estimated at PHP 2.5 billion a day.

“I also thank our TABS team for their hard work, patience and dedication, and our technology provider, 1-Stop Connections of Australia, who also implemented a similar system in our Victoria International Container Terminal in Melbourne,” Mr. Gonzales added.

The TABS team, led by Mr. Gonzalez, is composed of the following MICT officers: IT Director Reynaldo Mark S. Cruz Jr.; Commercial Director Christian L. Lozano; Government Affairs and Management Services Director Voltaire C. Wycoco; Operations Manager Jimmy A. Go; and Customer Relations Manager Erika G. Ambrosio. Supporting the team in the campaign is ICTSI’s Public Relations Office headed by PR Director Narlene A. Soriano, and PR Manager Jupiter L. Kalambakal.

The Grand Anvil is the second major award received by ICTSI for TABS. In June 2016, the Philippine Institute for Supply Management and the Foundation of the Society of Fellows in Supply Management honored ICTSI with the Gawad Sinop Corporate Award for Excellence in Supply Management Practices, the highest institutional accolade among supply chain management professionals in the country.

ICTSI is also in the running for the Navis 2017 Inspire Awards in the Collaboration Across the Container Flow category. Winners will be announced during the Navis World 2017 conference on 27-30 March in San Francisco, California.

Aside from the Grand Anvil, ICTSI brought home eight more Anvils for its various PR tools and programs by the ICTSI Public Relations Office and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs by the ICTSI Foundation.

Gold Anvils went to TABS implementation, Scholarship Program, Golf Program, Factbook brochure, Technological Livelihood Education Assistance to the Department of Education’s K-12 Program, and the Parola Solid Waste Management Project. The Silver Anvils went to the ICTSI FoundationGroup CSR brochure and the Employee Volunteerism Program.

The Board of Jurors of the 52nd Anvil Awards was co-chaired by Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III of the Department of Labor and Employment. Over 1,000 public relations practitioners attended the 52nd Anvil Awards Night last 10 March at the Makati Shangri La.

After clinching the Gold Anvil, ICTSI was shortlisted as finalist for the Grand Anvil. At the end of the awards night, ICTSI was announced the winner besting the programs of fellow Gold Anvil awardee, Department of Science of Technology, and the 52nd Anvil’s Agency of the Year, PageOne Media.

ICTSI Senior Vice President for Finance Jose Joel M. Sebastian and Ms. Soriano received the Grand Anvil from outgoing PRSP President Ronald F. Jabal, outgoing PRSP Vice President - Internal Rochelle Gamboa, 52nd Anvil Awards Committee Chair Ramon B. Osorio of ABS CBN Broadcasting Corp., and PRSP founding member and PR icon Max J. Edralin Jr.

ICTSI is added to the Grand Anvil Honor Roll, which includes Andres Soriano Corp., Ayala Corp., Globe Telecom, Shell, Nestle, Metrobank, and the late Gen. Carlos P. Romulo, among others.
