‘It is also a window to experience the rich heritage and traditions of Makati outside the Central Business District. There is so much more that makes Makati.’

The event will also mark the opening of an exhibit inspired by archival photographs of Old Makati featuring both digital and traditional artists. DJ duo Bignay Sound System will provide the musical backdrop for the evening. There will also be a live art mural by Fringe Manila Art Battle Finalist Jappy Agoncillo.

The idea to collaborate with the city of Makati had been brewing for a while, Fringe Manila’s Mr. Aguillon said, and the chance to reanimate Museo ng Makati seemed like the perfect avenue to bring all the pieces together.

The Museo ng Makati was originally built in 1918, and renovated in 1934. It was used as the first Town Hall of Makati City until 1961. After almost 100 years, the building is set for renovation to restore the beauty of its architecture, preserving the past, and building an exciting future for the arts in Poblacion.

Mr. Aguillon said the event is also a way of supporting the spirit of entrepreneurship among independent and up- and- coming businesses in Poblacion. Aside from the performances and visual arts by the participating artists, there will be a pop-up night market featuring some of Poblacion’s best food and handicrafts, along with guest artisanal makers from the Legazpi Sunday Market.

“It is also a window to experience the rich heritage and traditions of Makati outside the Central Business District. There is so much more that makes Makati,” he said.

“Makati is known to be one of the central business districts of the country but it’s not just what the city can offer. We want to reintroduce the other side of Makati, its culture and heritage and the glowing passion for the arts,” Dwayne Samarista of Makati Museum and Cultural Office was quoted as saying in a press release.

Museo ng Makati will be open for free until April 16, then will be closed until further notice. For more information, visit facebook. com/FringMNL or e-mail hello@ fringemanila. com. —
