ASEAN conferences on Intellectual Property Protection start
THE PHILIPPINES is hosting two global intellectual property conferences that will tackle the significance and impact of intellectual property rights protection on the growth and development of ASEAN economies.
Today, April 20, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) will hold its 2nd AIPPI ASEAN Regional Meeting in cooperation with the Intellectual Property Association of the Philippines. Among the topics to be discussed are on emerging IP issues in the digital age and IP-related issues on the use of “clean & green” technologies.
On April 21 to 23, the Philippine Group of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Association (ASEAN- IPA) will be hosting the 2017 ASEAN-IPA Annual Conference and General Membership Meeting. Venue for both conferences is the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Hotel, Ortigas Center, Quezon City.
The incoming president of ASEAN-IPA, Atty. Aleli Angela G. Quirino, ACCRALAW Of- Counsel, said: “The theme of this year’s Conference is ‘IP in the ASEAN Region in a Changing Global Landscape.’ The theme complements the overall theme of the ASEAN 50th Founding Anniversary: Partnering For Change, Engaging The World. We expect to harness the collaboration of all the ASEAN countries in proactively promoting intellectual property rights protection to accelerate the growth and development of business in ASEAN.”
Key leaders and practitioners in the field of intellectual property rights protection and other related fields from the ASEAN countries, as well as other countries in Asia and the Pacific region, will participate in these events. Both events will feature distinguished international and local resource speakers and panelists coming from both public and private sectors.
