Top seeds Hidalgo, Alcala capture two HEAD Junior Vigan crowns each

TOP SEED Jude Miguel Hidalgo and Angelica Alcala ruled the eighth leg of 19th HEAD Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit by capturing two crowns recently at the Vigan Tennis Club in Ilocos Sur.

Hidalgo, the No. 1 player in the 14 and 16-and-under boys’ singles class, beat Don Silvan Miguel, 6-2, 7-5, in the 14-and-under finale to claim the title and then defeated Karl Philip Miguel, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6- 4, for the 16- and- under boys’ class trophy.

Alcala, for her part, outclassed Allana Mae Manglibo, 6-1, 6-1, to bag the 18-and-under girls’ singles crown. She also beat Heart Fernandez, 6-1, 6-0, in the championsh­ip round of 16-and-under girls’ singles category for the title.

The tournament is supported by Chris Sports, the nationwide sports retail chain, Toalson strings, UBE Express, the Premium Airport Bus Service, media partners People’s Television, Aksyon Sports, Business Mirror, Philippine Locale, Cook, Health and Fitness, Pilipino Mirror and Philippine­s Graphics.

No. 1 seed Kidlat Estogero blasted Zandre Mina, 4-1, 4-1, for the 10-and-under unisex crown, while Ava Daniel Mandac derailed Kyle Angelo Lorenzo, 6-1, 6-3, for the 12- and- under boys’ trophy, and Angeline Alcala bashed Ma. Juroelene Lucas, 6-4, 6-3, for the 12-and-under girls’ title.

Karl Philip Miguel rallied past Zire Mina, 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3, to clinch the 18-and-under boys’ crown and Ma. Juroelene Lucas outplayed Angelyn Atos, 6- 2, 5-7, 6- 2, for the 14-and-under girls’ diadem of the annual junior tennis satellite circuit attended by more than 100 players from Northern Luzon.

The doubles champions were Bezalel Kates Ayunon and Patricia Vanessa Artienda (14-and-under girls); sisters Angeline Alcala and Angelica Alcala (18-and-under girls); Jude Miguel Hidalgo and Mateo Rivas (14-and-under boys); and Karl Philip Miguel and Don Silvan Miguel (18-and-under boys).
