Saucony’s ‘ best shoe ever’

MASSACHUSSETS-BASED running shoes brand, Saucony, has introduced a new trainer geared towards bringing the best running experience — the Freedom ISO — described as “[Saucony’s] best shoe ever,” by a local marketing official.

“This shoe is our best shoe ever since it’s our most technologically advanced shoe. It’s the first [shoe] to have the full EVERUN cushioning and boasts of a livelier and a more responsive run,” Dindi Caballero, marketing associate of Saucony Philippines, said during the launch on May 12 at the Glorietta store in Makati City.

The brand’s proprietary EVERUN midsole “maintain cushioning properties three times longer than standard EVAs (ethyl vinyl acetate, the foam inside most running shoes) while returning 83% of the energy absorbed,” said a company press release.

This foam is said to provide “fluidity of movement, superior energy return, and enhanced performance,” it added.

Available in three color ways — an almost- neon blue with highlighter yellow and orange outer sole, the more subdued charcoal black, and a pink- red variant exclusive targeted at women — this trainer aims to be marketed towards the “lifestyle and performance consumer,” or both those who are into the growing “athleisure” segment and those who are really into running.

The Freedom ISO is the new addition to the brand’s ISO line which includes the Hurricane, Zealot and Triumph.

Freedom ISO, while a first for the brand, traces its roots to 1983 when Saucony introduced the Freedom Trainer, a shoe the company described as “the future of running footwear,” known for its compression plug midsole and triangle stud configuration in the outersole.

More than 30 years later, the Freedom ISO keeps its namesake’s legacy alive with the full EVERUN midsole and a leaner ISOFIT fit system which provides a snug, comfortable fit for the wearer.

It also weighs a light 9 ounces for men and 8.1 ounces for women and the 4- mm offset ( heel- totoe drop) creates a lightweight, racing-inspired sleeve while the breathable stretch mesh upper and streamlined heel support frame add to the shoe’s fit and performance.

And despite being the top-ofthe-line shoe for serious runners, the shoe is “so comfortable and so lightweight it can be used every day, for daily wear,” said Ms. Caballero.

“It was released in March and so far the demand is really high. The moment the wear testers try it, they really feel the difference,” she added.

The Saucony Freedom ISO retails at P6,995 and is available in Saucony stores nationwide.
