Holcim PHL sees strong demand amid infra push
HOLCIM PHILIPPINES is confident it can meet the anticipated increase in cement demand as the government plans a massive infrastructure program.
“When we look at the role of supply and demand in the country, we certainly at the moment believe that there will be a greater demand than supply... We have invested in increasing our capacity and we continuously review it,” Holcim Philippines President Sapna Sood told reporters on Tuesday.
She said the company expects to complete the “debottlenecking” of existing plants by the end of June. This would boost its total capacity by a fifth to 10 million metric tons ( MT) from its current capacity of 8.2 million MT.
In 2015, Holcim Philippines started debottlenecking its facilities, or the process of optimizing a facility by removing items that limit the flow of products to boost its efficiency. Its cement manufacturing facilities are located in La Union, Bulacan, Misamis Oriental, and Davao. —
