Pagente rules HEAD Jr. Tennis Manila leg

GENNIFER PAGENTE dominated the final and 12th leg of the 19th HEAD Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit recently by winning two titles, while Marrielle Jarata copped the 10-and-under Unisex crown at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Manila.

The No. 1 Pagente blasted Kryshana Brazal, 6- 1, 6- 2, to capture the girls’ 16- and- under singles diadem. She even sustained her best effort in the girls’ 18- and- under singles finale, crushing Patricia Lim, 6-4, 6-3, for her back-to-back crown.

Jarata, on the other hand, beat Kidlat Estogero, 4-2, 4-5, 4-2, for the unisex crown of the last leg of the tournament participat­ed by 300 players all over the country.

The tournament is supported by Chris Sports, Toalson strings, UBE Express, the Premium Airport Bus Service, media partners People’s Television, Aksyon Sports, Business Mirror, Philippine Locale, Cook, Health and Fitness, Pilipino Mirror and Philippine­s Graphics.

Second seed Sherwin Nuguit defeated Andrei Jarata, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, to bag the 12-and-under boys’ singles title, while Allen Rombawa bested Raven Hitosis, 6-4, 7- 5, to claim the 14- and- under boys’ singles trophy.

In other boys’ singles finals, top seed Jose Antonio Tria rallied past Matthew Garcia, 3- 6, 6-0, 6-2, to win the 16-and-under boys’ title and Aljohn Talatayod scored a 7- 5, 3- 0 ( Retired) win over Jarell Edangga to win the 18-and-under title.

In the girls’ singles finals, third seed Mica Ella Emana beat sister Kaye Anne Emana, 6-3, 7-5, to gain the 12-and-under crown, while Filipino-Aussie Ashley Pearl Mackenzie won over Kryshana Brazal, 62, 7-5, to clinch the title.

The doubles champions were Marrielle Jarata and Ginnuel Manlapaz (10-and-under unisex); Rafael Liangco and Raven Hitosis ( 14- and- under boys); Jose Antonio Tria and Matthew Garcia (18-and-under boys); and Emana sisters (14-and-under girls).
