Audi’s littlest SUV now in the Philippines

-

AUDI has added to its range of small, medium and large SUVs — represented by the Q3, Q5 and Q7, respectively — the Q2, which, as the brand’s nomenclature suggests, is now the smallest among the litter. The new model, introduced in late 2016, is now available in the Philippines.

Pitched as an “urban- type vehicle” that bundles together “progressive design, great driving pleasure [and] a high level of functionality,” the Q2 is comparable to larger SUVs in terms of infotainment and assistance systems, and also offers a “good amount of space,” according to Audi.

In the Philippines, the car maker is offering three engine choices for the Q2. The selection starts with an inline-three 1.0-liter gasoline engine (called TSI by Audi) that, with direct injection and turbo-charging, makes 116hp. Higher-end variants are powered by either a 2.0-liter, inline-four TFSI engine or a diesel mill, which is also a four- cylinder, 2.0- liter unit that’s equipped with direct injection and a turbocharger ( Audi calls the diesel engine TDI). While Audi’s seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission can be paired with any of the engines, only the 2.0-liter pair can be optioned with the brand’s Quattro permanent allwheel drive system.

Defining the Q2’s external styling are Audi’s signature single frame grille, large air inlets, a low roof, concave flanks and various aero and body- protection pieces. Inside, the car can seat five and offers occupants a good view outside, plus easy entry and exit courtesy of wide-opening doors. Despite compact dimensions, Audi placed the Q2’s luggage capacity at 405 liters, which can expand to 1,050 liters when the backseat is folded down. Options include a power-operated tailgate and a 40/20/40-split seat back.

Also fitted to Q2 is Audi’s MMI infotainment system, which comes with rotary and push- button controls, a 5.8inch screen, and a touch pad on which a menu of functions can be accessed. A variety of equipment packages (including LED lighting) and color options for cabin trim and seat upholstery can be specified, too.

Audi Philippines said the Q2 is now available at its showrooms in Greenhills, Global City, Westgate Alabang and SM Seaside City Cebu.
