- — Rey Joble

ST. LUKE’S came through with an overpowering performance in the finals to whip Sitel 1, 75-57, and clinch the championship of the LGR Hoops Season 3 Corporate Division in Kerry Sports, Shangri-La.

Employing its airtight defense right from the get-go, St. Luke’s held its rival to only nine points in the first period to break the game wide open by unloading 24 early and didn’t look back.

Four players finished in double figures for St. Luke’s led by Bernardo Aquino’s 12. Jeffrey dela Cruz chipped in 11 while Mack Castisimo and Cham Alastre added 10 apiece.

Zark’s pulled off a similar convincing win in the finals of the Novice Plus Division following a 91-76 triumph over Wednesday Basketball.

Wednesday Basketball had no answer to the power scoring duo of Zark’s EJ de Guzman and Alwin Alday, who combined for 47 markers. RJS Construction edged Wednesday Basketball’s sister team in the Novice Division, 104100, to win the Season 3 title.

Now the fastest growing commercial league for people from all walks of life, LGR Hoops had already attracted more than 80 teams competing in different divisions and the league is expected to grow more with the inclusion of the Professional’s Division in the future.

This means that professional licensed holders like engineers, architects, doctors, lawyers and professors can join the tournament.

LGR Hoop’s Season 4 will take off in the first week of August and registration is now on going. Participants can visit LGR’s Facebook page (LGR Hoops Est. 2016) to download the application form. You can submit the application form thru e- mail lgrhoops@gmail.com and deadline of submission is on July 28.
