High-stakes BVR national championship on later this month
THE Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR) On Tour National Championship is set for a fiery affair with competing teams not only playing for the national title but also a chance to represent the country.
Set to take place from July 28 to 30 at the Anguib Beach in Sta. Ana, Cagayan, BVR organizers said the event, sanctioned by the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI), will serve as a qualifier as well for aspiring national bets to the Southeast Asian Beach Volleyball Games in Singapore in September.
The top three in the men’s and women’s divisions will be included in the national training pool, from which the LVPI will select the country’s official representatives to the international competition.
Teams competing in the tournament include Far Eastern University, Dipolog, Coast Guard, National University, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cebu, Rizal Technical University, La Salle Bacolod, Ateneo, Navy, and Coast Guard in the men’s division; and RTU, Ateneo, Iloilo, Cebu, Bacolod, Tagum, Philippine National Police, and Perlas in the women’s division.
Aside from the chance to represent the flag, the teams will also be fighting for the grand prize of P50,000, with the runner- up receiving P30,000 and the third placer getting P15,000.
Set up in 2015, BVR has made significant headways in its thrust of pushing for the Philippines to be the Beach Volleyball Hub in Asia.
It has been organizing beach volleyball tournaments that do not only feature the best beach volleyball players in the country but promotes the beauty of our country.
BVR also conducts “sandroots” activities to inspire and train young Filipino athletes to love and excel in the sport of beach volleyball.
