-

NOW celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Shell National Students Art Competition (NSAC) is again expected to draw more student-participants this year as it continues to encourage and recognize young talents from different schools all over the country.

After almost five decades, global power and gas technology leader Shell has leveled the playing field in the Philippine art scene by shining a spotlight on budding Filipino talents and by propelling them to make their distinctive mark as upcoming artists to watch for. As part of its future energy visions, the innovative competition is Shell’s social investment program for youth development and nation-building that spurs young artists to realize their dream.

The Shell NSAC is open to all Filipino college students who are currently enrolled this year with at least 12 units in a duly recognized Philippine school. The theme for this year is THE GOLDEN VOYAGE, 50 years of powering students’ artistry. Cash prizes await this year’s winners in each category, namely, oil & acrylic, watercolor, sculpture and digital fine arts.

Past winners of the Shell NSAC include a number of contemporary Filipino art masters such as National Artists Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera, Jose Joya, Ang Kiukok, and Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, just to name a few.

Submission of entries is now on-going. For provincial contestants, acceptance of entries will be until Aug. 18 at any Shell provincial depot and or in any of the following receiving centers: Gallery Orange, Bacolod City and Museo Iloilo, Iloilo City.
