THE ARMED Forces of the Philippines (AFP) challenged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to name the retired military general who allegedly protects the Parojinogs, a political clan in Ozamiz City suspected to be involved in illegal drug operations. “We just want to say that until now, we are still waiting for a name from the PNP,” Col. Edgard A. Arevalo, AFP Public Affairs Office spokesperson said in an interview with reporters on Tuesday. PNP Director-General Ronald M. Dela Rosa hinted on Monday that he has knowledge on the retired AFP general allegedly involved with the Parojinog clan. Mr. Arevalo said that upon learning about the accusation, AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo M. Año ordered an immediate investigation. But so far, no name has surfaced yet. Moreover, Mr. Arevalo said that “the AFP will never tolerate” any form of involvement its members might have with illegal drugs. Those who will be found guilty of drug involvement will undergo “summary dismissal proceedings,” he added. Meanwhile, President Rodrigo R. Duterte offered a P2-million reward for each policeman caught and proven to be involved in the burying of bodies in Ozamiz. A compound in the city was allegedly used as dumping ground for the remains of the competitors of the Parojinog family in the narcotics business. “P2 million per head, dead or alive. Better dead because I have to pay for the funeral parlor expense,” Mr. Duterte said.
