Google endorses solution used by AboitizPower
THE MAPPING system being used by AboitizPower distribution utilities (DUs) Visayan Electric Co, Inc. (VECO) and Davao Light and Power Co, Inc. (Davao Light) is now offered to other Google customers around the world.
Agila, which has been renamed GeoSmart, has been endorsed by Google as one of its enterprise geographic information system solutions.
Agila or GeoSmart is listed as one of the 29 solutions developed by Google Map partners. It was developed by Navagis in collaboration with AboitizPower to improve efficiency in managing inventories and to provide timely service to VECO and Davao Light customers.
Jojo Guingao, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. first vice-president Digital Management, said that Agila brings mobility, agility, and accessibility to the process. It means improved productivity for the DUs because VECO and Davao Light personnel no longer have to do ocular inspections to verify their drawing board projections.
“Before Agila, designing a line extension or a network maintenance takes days to complete. Now, it takes hours to finish everything including the materials and labor required to implement a work order,” said Bobong Borja, AboitizPower DUs assistant vice-president Information Services Group.
Since it is using Google Maps, Agila or GeoSmart has maximized the functionalities available on the Google platform like Street View, Geo-Fencing, Points of interest, and Crowdsourcing, to name a few.
Some of these functionalities are also useful to VECO and Davao Light, like Street View, which allows personnel to see the situation on the ground without having to be physically on site.
Agila guarantees customer satisfaction by ensuring shorter waiting time for those applying for new line extensions with VECO and Davao Light customers.
