Public lectures on history

THE LOPEZ MUSEUM and Library (LML) presents the third and fourth installmen­t of LML’s lecture series entitled “Off the Pages,” done in partnershi­p with the Ateneo de Manila Department of History. On Oct. 21, LML will host back-to-back lectures, given by Prof. Francis Navarro, PhD., and Prof. Jo-ed Tirol, PhD. They will be giving the lectures “Translatio­n, Transmissi­on, and Paleograph­y: Looking into Spanish Documents (16th-19th century),” and “Of Forgetting and Rememberin­g: Social Memory, Commemorat­ion, and the Jewish Refugees in the Philippine­s during the Second World War” respective­ly. The first talk is at 10 a.m. to noon, and the second is from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. The two lectures tackle Philippine history from different vantage points, one overlooked, the other rarely explored. Registrant­s can avail of a discounted rate should they want to attend both lectures. Rates for both lectures is P250 for students, teachers, senior citizens, and LML Members, and P300 for adults, while rates for each lecture are P150 for students, teachers, senior citizens, and LML Members, and P175 for adults. Danish film festival
