Rouge launches single from 2nd album

- Michelle Anne P. Soliman

TWO YEARS since the release of its first album, all-girl pop rock band, Rouge — the current lineup composed of Princess Ybañez on violin, Jeri Oro on guitar, Kara Mendez on bass, and Gyan Murriel on drums — launched “Gulong, Gulong Buhay” (GBB) the first single from their new album, on Tuesday.

The song is about the confusion of loving two people at the same time.

“I don’t know if there’s a song about that especially from a woman’s perspective. I think it happens to everyone. It’s universal. It happens to both males and females,” violinist Princess Ybañez told BusinessWorld at the song’s launch on Oct. 24 at Ka Freddie’s Bar in Quezon City.

The band members said they hope to release the first single’s music video this year. The release of their second album — still untitled — is expected in January 2018.

In contrast to the first self-titled album which contained inspirational songs, the upcoming second album will revolve around “hugot” tracks, the band said.

The original lineup of the Pilipinas Got Talent Season 5 semifinalists became known thanks to the original composition, “Hanep.” The band was nominated for Best Performance by a New Recording Artist at the 29th Awit Awards and the Best WISHclusive Performance by a group at the first WISH 107.5 Music Awards in 2016.

“Gulong, Gulong Buhay” is available on Spotify, Amazon, and iTunes. —
