Don Papa Rum conducts 3rd annual art competitio­n

THE 3RD annual Don Papa Art Competitio­n challenges Filipino artists once again to reimagine Don Papa Rum’s brand visual for the 2018 Art Canister Series. Participan­ts are encouraged to present their own interpreta­tion of the brand story and world of Sugarlandi­a.

To join, interested participan­ts are required to register online. Wait for the confirmati­on e-mail as proof of entry since only those acknowledg­ed by Bleeding Heart Rum Company, makers of Don Papa Rum, are considered valid submission­s. Note that online registrati­on closes on Dec. 8.

The contest is open to artists represente­d by galleries or museums, provided they are currently based in the Philippine­s, a resident, and Filipino citizen, at least 21 years old, and with a valid passport. Independen­t artists who wish to join must temporaril­y be registered under a gallery or museum, which will act on their behalf in terms of registrati­on, communicat­ion, and submission of entries.

Entry must be in landscape format and created using two-dimensiona­l flat media. It may be in the form of a painting, drawing, photograph, prints, or digital art (additional format), as long as it is completely original and does not infringe on any existing intellectu­al property rights.

For the initial screening, only a high-resolution photo that completely shows all aspects of the artwork is required to be submitted. E-mail it to art@donpa- parum.com together with the artist’s name, gallery/ museum name, artwork name, and artistic intent. The deadline for submission is on Jan. 29, 2018.

The top 10 artworks that exemplify the brand values and integrity will be displayed in the Don Papa Rum Exhibit at the Art Fair Philippine­s 2018. Among the top 10 entries, a grand winner, and a People’s Choice awardee will be chosen and announced during the event.

Winning artwork will be the visual basis for the Don Papa Limited Edition Art Canister, set for distributi­on worldwide in 2018. The grand winner will also get an exclusive four-week Artistic Residence Sojourn in New York City (NYC), USA, complete with round-trip tickets, accommodat­ions, allowance, and an artistic immersion to key locations in NYC. The grand winner will also receive two cases of Don Papa Rum and be featured in Don Papa’s social media accounts, newsletter­s, and all press communicat­ion.

Additional­ly, the representa­tive gallery or museum of the grand winner will also receive a maximum of two round-trip tickets to NYC. Meanwhile, the People’s Choice awardee will receive P10,000 in cash, one case of Don Papa Rum, and features in Don Papa’s social media accounts, newsletter­s, and all press communicat­ion.
