Team Faithful, RJS Construction make quarters of LGR Hoops
TEAM FAITHFUL and RJS Construction booked a quarterfinals seat in separate divisions in the LGR Hoops Season 4 following their playoff victories just recently at the Gatorade Hoops Center.
With a quarterfinals seat in the Neophyte Division up for grabs, LA Agustin preserved his best game, unloading 33 points highlighted by seven three-point shots en route to carrying Team Faithful to a 115-95 triumph over DBB07.
Backing up Agustin was Lester Cordero, who poured in 22 points while David Lo contributed 13 for Team Faithful, which led from start to finish en route to securing a quarterfinals seat in this event sponsored by Bugsy’s, Rain or Shine, Petron, Titan, NBA Store, Gatorade, BTV, Gold’s Gym, Zark’s Burger, Kartilya, SYF and Ybalai.
Team Faithful spoiled an explosive performance from Max Monterola, who scored a seasonhigh 50 markers for DBB07, but failed to get enough support from the rest of the squad.
In the Novice Division, RJS Construction waylaid Mi Amigos, 124-66, to also advance to the next phase of the tournament.
With only seven players showing up for Mi Amigos, the team didn’t have enough firepower to match up against the more balance RJS Construction team.
Seven players finished in double figures for RJS Construction led by James Bryant Morales with 16. PJ Fernandez, Ian Gragasin and Vincent Huit contributed 15, Ellard Cortez chipped in 14, Kelvin Marcelo had 13 and Melvin Caruz scored 10.
Third Wheel defeated George Plateria, 94-83, to move into the round of 16.
Behind the explosive performance of Ey Espino, Third Wheel had a trouble- free ride beating George Plateria.
Mr. Espino banged in 40 points, including eight three-point shots, to power Third Wheel. —
