Foreign investor,

It wasn’t until around three to four years ago, in a trip to meet other startups in San Francisco, that Mr. Bloom found a calling — or a hobby as he liked to call it: investing.

Mr. Bloom explains that once he starts talks with start-ups, it takes 60 to 90 days to complete due diligence and “cash in the bank.” It’s during those times when he invests that the uncertainty comes along: not getting your money back.

However, it’s the hope of finding one win that covers the multiple losses that keeps Mr. Bloom on a continual pursuit to support start-ups.

“It’s risky business and entrepreneurs have to know that if the first company they built don’t work, then try another one. Don’t be discouraged too much to not try it again because it sometimes takes three or four start-ups before you make something that works,” he said.

“[W]e have a TV show in America called the Venture Capitalist and we go to outdoor spaces and we meet entrepreneurs who create outdoor products for the adventure space and we get to test these things and if we like the product and we like the entrepreneur, then we invest in their efforts I’ve been doing that for two years,” he added.

At present, Mr. Bloom had already invested a total of $25 million in 25 different start-ups, 23 of which are in the United States while the two other are based in London.

Now in his second time in the country, Mr. Bloom said that he plans to spend "a couple of a million dollars" to a small amount if start-ups he plans to meet during his short stay in the country. He also considers himself as a “stage-agnostic” and “industryagnostic,”keeping an open mind to any start-up that catches his eye and his interest enough to open his wallet.

“This is actually an opportunity to meet entrepreneurs in the Philippines, in the city that I love, in the market that I love, in the country that I love coming to. I’ve gone here two years ago but just for a handful of days, it stood out to me how nice, how kind and friendly people are here and also how good they are in [speaking] English,” he said.
