DENR calls for more public support on Pasig River rehab
THE DEPARTMENT of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has urged the public to support government efforts to rehabilitate the Pasig River, which once served as Manila’s major access for trade and commerce. “Taking care of the river is a shared responsibility,” Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu said in a statement, “I welcome the public’s guidance and watchful eye in ensuring what is promised is delivered,” he added. The agency, through its Environmental Management Bureau, has been providing technical support for the revival of the Pasig River. —
