P13 million set for Pasko Fiesta sa Davao
THE CITY government has earmarked P13 million for this year’s Pasko Fiesta celebration. “This year’s budget is around P13 million, which is a slight increase from last year which was P10 million,” City Administrator Zuleika Lopez said in an interview, adding that several activities have been expanded or new ones added for the 2017 celebration. Among these are the Kahayag sa Davao, where establishments are encouraged to light up their facade and the Parada ng mga Parol, where schools, organizations and families parade their lanterns with a minimum size of 6x6 feet. Another feature of the Pasko Fiesta is the Banda Dasig, a drum and bugle corps competition and a chorale competition. Ms. Lopez said the proposed budget is still subject to the final approval of Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who chairs the event’s executive committee. The city government has started putting on the Christmas decorations for the fiesta opening in December. —
