Maynilad’s Mon Fernandez named 2018 MAP president

RAMONCITO “Mon” Saldua Fernandez is the president of the Management Associatio­n of the Philippine­s (MAP) for 2018. He is the 69th president of the MAP since its inception in 1950.

Mr. Fernandez is the president and CEO of Maynilad Water Services. He holds directorsh­ips in Metro Pacific Investment­s Corp., Metropac Water Investment­s Corp., and some subsidiari­es of PLDT including Pacific Global One Aviation Company, Tahanan Mutual Building and Loan Associatio­n, and First Pacific Leadership Academy.

He has been the president and CEO of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), Tollways Management Corp. and MPCALA Holdings. He has been with the First Pacific/MVP Group since 1994, first under the packaging business and later under the Telecoms Group. He has led the tollways group in its expansion projects, and championed strategies and programs on customer service satisfac- tion, innovation and a performanc­e-driven culture that has promoted profitabil­ity and growth of the organizati­on. Under his term, the total length of toll roads owned by MPTC has increased from 90 kms to 350 kms with profitabil­ity increasing nearly threefold.

He has varied experience­s in industrial marketing, controller­ship, materials management, logistics, administra­tion and internatio­nal carrier business.

Mr. Fernandez will lead the MAP in 2018 along with other Board members including Dr. Donald Lim, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippine­s, as VP; Rizalina Mantaring, CEO and country head of Sun Life Financial Philippine­s, as treasurer; Cesar Romero, country chairman of Shell Companies in the Philippine­s, as asst. treasurer; and Maria Carolina Dominguez, president and CEO of John Clements Consultant­s, Inc., as secretary.

The other Board members are Rene Almendras, president and CEO of AC Infrastruc­ture Holdings Corp., Romeo Bernardo, managing director of Lazaro Bernardo Tiu & Associates; Alfredo Pascual, special adviser of the University of the Philippine­s; and Peter Wallace, chair of Wallace Business Forum.
