Cathay Pacific unveils new in-flight program

-

IT ISN’T really a wonder why travelers are often “bent out of shape,” so to speak. Sitting down for long periods of time have fliers expecting to alight from their flights with some stiffness and strain.

Cathay Pacific’s philosophy of creating Life Well Traveled experiences has ensured that its inflight amenities — from its seats, food, to entertainment options — provide passengers with a convenient and comfortable journey. But the premium airline is not stopping there and has in fact gone the extra mile to help with travelers’ over-all wellness.

Its new inflight well-being program uses yoga, and meditation exercises and tips for frequent flyers and international passengers to counter the effects of extended periods of sitting. Yoga techniques combine mindful movement, with attention to breathing and bodily sensations that not only reduces stiffness but also helps calm the mind and eases stress or anxiety.

Cathay Pacific teamed up with Pure Yoga to launch Travel Well with Yoga. Developed by esteemed Pure Yoga instructors, Travel Well with Yoga includes six easy-to-follow videos of yoga and meditation routines that can be done before, during, or after a flight.

The exercises are demonstrated by founding teacher Patrick Creelman and senior instructor & cofounder Al- men Wong, and designed to improve circulation, enhance joint mobility, and keep travelers relaxed and comfortable throughout their journey.

“We all know that sitting still for a long period of time can be uncomfortable. The need to get up, move and get your blood pumping is important during a flight,” said Cathay Pacific Entertainment, Platforms and Connectivity manager Simon Cuthbert.

“Yoga is an innovative way to do this. There are a series of exercises that can easily be done from an economy class seat while other moves are suitable for after the flight in your hotel,” he continued.

Viewable in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Japanese, passengers of all Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon routes can access the series through the Lifestyle section on their inflight entertainment screens.

As a life well-lived is also about pursuing wellness wherever you are, all Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club members also receive a complimentary 10-day trial, 50% discount on studio joining fees, and a complimentary upgrade for access to all Pure Yoga studios across Asia.

Travel Well with Yoga videos are now available across all Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon routes.
